SOUTH FACE ROAD
  • Follow the Princess Hwy (M1 - A1) Turn off at Moe exit and then continue via Erica and Parkers Corner.
  • The NEW South Face Road is approximately 3km after Parkers Corner.
  • Note: 25km of the South Face Road is unsealed (although less windy than the Tourist Route) - www.southfaceroad.info for further details.
  • From the South Face Road, Mt Baw Baw's Gate Entry Intersection is located on the right.
MT BAW BAW TOURIST ROUTE
  • Turn off the Princes Hwy (M1) at the Drouin / Mt Baw Baw exit via Noojee. Follow the signs towards Noojee / Mt Baw Baw along Main Neerim Road (C425)
  • After Noojee the road turns into the Mount Baw Baw Tourist Route (C426)
  • This road will lead you through the town of Icy Creek (chain hire available) and Tanjil Bren.
  • Continue along the road until you reach Mt Baw Baw Gate Entry Intersection on the left.
  • For far Eastern Suburbs and a more scenic drive, travel along the Warburton Highway turning off at Yarra Junction joining the main tourist route from Noojee.
  • Follow Option 1 directions to access Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort.
Travel Tips
  • Take it slowly and enjoy the views. They are breathtaking.
  • We do not recommend the use of GPS and Internet Direction Mapping.
  • Make sure that your vehicle has plenty of fuel for your return journey, fuel is not available from the Resort.
  • Check the road conditions BEFORE you leave home.

  • Ensure that you have anti-freeze in your car’s radiator and battery.
  • Brake smoothly at all times.
  • Descend in low gear.
  • When parking, leave your car in gear and the handbrake off
  • Don’t accelerate too quickly.
  • Don’t brake when cornering
  • Remember – it’s a road not a race-track. Drive cautiously and utilize slow pullover areas.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is required by law to carry chains when travelling to Mount Baw Baw during the declared snow season.

Chains must be carried during the declared snow season (June 1st - October 31st) regardless of snow conditions.

Diamond pattern chains are preferable due to the steep gradient of the access road. We recommend chain hire at Neerim south, at Bawbaw sports.

Chain Hire is not available at the Resort - so be sure to plan ahead. YOU WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO THE RESORT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE WHEEL CHAINS.
